Tort din fondant cu Minnie Mouse / Minnie Mouse fondant cake

Pentru cei mici, personajele din desenele animate sunt mai mult decat niste simple maimutoaie care trec printr-o sumedenie de aventuri. Pentru ei, sunt niste adevarati eroi sau modele de urmat. Cei care au copii prin preajma cu siguranta stiu la ce ma refer. Aceeasi poveste se intampla si cu nepoteii mei si de cele mai multe ori raman surprinsa cat de mult conteaza pt ei aceste figuri. In copilarie aveam si eu preferatii  mei din desene animate, Tom si Jerry, care trebuie sa recunoastem, sunt nemuritori. Din seria nemuritorii desenelor animate, vi-o prezint pe Minnie Mouse azi. In urma cu ceva timp finuta unei colege de munca a implinit venerabila varsta de 2 anisori. Un moment cu totul memorabil pt parinti dar mai ales pt cea mica. Preferata ei este Minnie, si un tort cu doamna soricioaica ar fi completat perfect cadoul pt micuta Sara.

Asadar, cu toate ca aparatul foto mi-a facut figura chiar in ziua cand pregateam tortul, am reusit sa imortalizez si pt voi tortul pt Sara. A fost cu blat simplu si aroma de vanilie, si minunata crema Chantilly, pe care am folosit-o de nenumarate ori in vara aceasta.

For children, cartoon characters are more than just simple mimic characters that are going through a lot of adventures. For them, they are some real heroes or role models. Those who have children around have definitely an idea and really know what I mean. The same story happens with my nephews, and often we are surprised how much these figures matter to them. In my childhood I had my favorite cartoon characters too, Tom and Jerry, you must recognize them, they are truly immortal. From the same series, I introduce you today Minnie Mouse. A while ago, the goddaughter of one of my coworkers turned the venerable age of 2 years old. This was a memorable moment for her parents but especially for the little one. Her favorite cartoon character is Minnie, and a cake with the precious mouse lady would have perfectly completed a gift for little Sara.

So, although my camera went to strike the very same day I was preparing the cake, I managed to capture for you the cake I made for Sara. It was made of a simple vanilla flavor sponge and the wonderful Chantilly cream,  which I used so many times this summer.

I hope you enjoy it as much as little Sara did! 🙂

Tort ciocolatos cu masina din fondant / Chocoholic cake with fondant cake topper

Inca din copilarie, ciocolata a fost preferata mea in materie de dulciuri. Imi aduc aminte de fiecare data cand luam sau primeam o ciocolata o imparteam cu parintii, bunicii sau cine mai era cu mine si era o mare placer sa savurez fiecare bucatica. Numai un om caruia ii place ciocolata asa de mult poate sa ma inteleaga. Recent iubitul unei college si-a sarbatorit onomastica si a vrut un tort cu ciocolata si cacao, fara nimic altceva, doar multa ciocolata. Asa ca am facut un tort ciocolatos la care sunt cu gandul si acum.

Am folosit mousse de ciocolata pt crema si blat de cacao.

Ei bine aici am avut ceva de munca si dezsi am imprumutat marca BMW ce-a iesit e ceva unic, un model nescos pe piata inca, de nici un producator auto. :))

Since childhood, chocolate was my favorite in terms of sweets. I remember every time I bought a chocolate or received one, I used to share it with my parents, grandparents or whoever was with me at that time and it was a great pleasure to savor each piece. Only those who like chocolate so much can understand me. Recently one of my colleague’s boyfriend celebrated his name day and wanted a cake with chocolate and cocoa, with nothing else, just a lot of chocolate. So I made him a chocolate cake that is still in my mind now.
I used the chocolate mousse for the filling and a cocoa sponge.
The birthday boy desired a special decoration, a remote control car. Well here I had a real challenge and even if I borrowed the BMW trademark this unique market model is not yet produced by any car company. :))

Tort cu urs in fustita si trandafiri / Tutu panda bear with roses cake

La noi la romani sarbatoarea Sfintei Marii se tine negresit in fiecare an. Atat pe 15 august, la adormire cat sip e 8 septembrie la nasterea Fecioarei. Multe persoane poarta numele sfant si printre ele si 2 colege de munca. Si-au dorit un tort facut de mine asa ca n-am ezitat si am zis da provocarii. Una din ele si-a dorit cu orice pret un ursulet cu fusta pe tort si am stat si m-am gandit ce alta combinative de ornament sa fac astfel incat sa existe o potrivire cu aceasta dorinta nastrusnica si cu ceea ce se potrivea caracterului celeilalte colege. Desi pasta de zahar mi-a facut feste, am reusit intr-un final sa fac si ursuletul si 3 trandafirasi. Sunt mai reusiti decat primul meu trandafir insa stiu ca mereu e loc de mai bine, mereu e bines a evoluam sis a devenim mai buni in ceea ce facem.

Las vorbaria la o parte si va prezint tortul cu urs panda (in fustita) si trandafiri.

Here in Romania the St. Mary feast and celebrations are held every year. Both on August 15th and on September 8th we pray and celebrate Virgin Mary as much and as sincerely as we can. Many people are called by Her and this is reason for parties with family and friends. This was the case of colleagues from work. They wanted a cake made ​​by me so I didn’t hesitate and said yes to the challenge. One of them wanted by all means a teddy bear in tutu to sit on the cake and I had to think to what different combination of ornament I could make​so that there is a match with what the other colleague wanted on this shared cake. Although my sugar paste gave me some hard times, I finally managed to do the bear and 3 roses. This time my roses looked better than the first rose I made out of fondant but I know there is always room for improvement; it’s always a good thing to evolve to become better in everything you do.
I leave the twaddle aside and I introduce to you the tutu panda bear and roses cake
It was filled with Chantilly cream and the sponge had almonds flavor.

Salata de fasole verde cu usturoi / Green beans garlic salad

Stiu ca vara este pe sfarsit si ne concentram sa prindem ultimele zile calduroase pana sa vina vremea rece. Cu toate acestea multe legume sunt inca pe val si merita sa le acordam toata atentia. Ca de exemplu fasolea verde si dovelgelul. Cu ceva vreme in urma va impartaseam reteta mea de dovlegel pane care merge de minune cu un sos de usturoi. Astazi vreau sa va impartasesc o reteta combinata, cu alte cuvinte, langa dovlegel mai puteti pune pe farfurie si o salata de fasole verde cu usturoi si o rosie.

Avem nevoie de:

  • 1 kg de fasole verde
  • Dovlegel pane, conform retetei sus amintita
  • 3, 4 catei de usturoi
  • Si cateva rosii sau ce mai vreti sa puneti in farfurie

Procedeul este foarte simplu. Fierbeti fasolea in apa mai multa. Dupa ce s-a fiert o scoateti si o lasati sa se scurga bine de apa. Puneti 3 linguri de ulei intr-o tigaie si adaugati fasolea.

Este un fel de stir fry romanesc, numai ca noi avem deja leguma fiarta. O caliti 3 minute si o lasati sa se linisteasca. Intre timp curatati usturoiul, pisati-l bine si frecati-l cu 1 lg de ulei si putina sare pana se face ca o pasta.

La final adaugati pasta de usturoi peste fasolea calita si gata salata. Eu am servit fasolea cu dovlegelul pane si cateva rosii, un deliciu.

I know that summer is winding down and we are all focusing to catch the last warm days before the cold weather comes. However many vegetables are still on the rise and worth to give them all the attention we have available. Such veggies would be the green beans and zucchinis. A while ago I shared with you my zucchinis chips recipe that goes well with a garlic sauce. Today I want to share another recipe where I combined the green beans, with the zucchinis and garlic, or whatever other veggies you want to put on your plate.

We would need:

  • 1 kg of green beans
  • the zucchinis chips, as per my recipe
  • 3, 4 cloves of garlic
  • And some tomatoes

The process is very simple. Boil the beans in plenty of water. After boiling, remove them from the bowl it and let the water drain well. Put 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add the beans. It’s kind of Romanian style stir fry, only that we have already boiled the vegetable. Leave it for 3 minutes and let it rest. Meanwhile take the peeled garlic, crushed it and rub it with 1 Tbs of oil and a pinch of salt until it forms a paste. Finally add the garlic paste over the beans and the salad is ready. I served it with the zucchinis chips and some tomatoes.

Salata mentolata de pepene cu branza / Watermelon mint and cheese salad

Se zice ca dupa Sfanta Marie… ne-am “ars” la palarie. Cu toate ca in ultimii ani vremea a fost data peste cap si vechile credinte romanesti n-au mai avut aceeasi valoare se pare ca acest an se comporta normal si conform acestor credinte. Iarna a fost si blanda dar a avut si zile geroase, primavera  a fost si ea buna cu noi dand apa pamantului si vara s-a tinut de cele doua prietene sus amintite dandu-ne zile calduroase cand a fost nevoie. Dupa 15 august anul acesta, vremea s-a pregatit de toamna. Daca in alti ani veneau zile toride dupa jumatatea lunii, anul acesta vremea s-a racorit simtitor. Desi este 8 septembrie, ziua de Sfanta Marie Mica, a nasterii maicii, m-am gandit sa inchei lista retelor varatice cu un articol despre ultimul pepene al anului. Iata asadar salata de pepene cu branza de vaci.

Avem nevoie de un pepene, cat mai gasiti pe la piata si niste branza.

Ca sa fie mai interesant eu am pus si niste frunze uscate de roinita, o planta sora cu menta, pt o aroma si mai racoritoare.

They say after the day we commemorate Saint Mary’s death, a big orthodox holiday in Romania … we are kind of messed up… as a rabbit in a hat, as the fall comes. Although in the recent years the weather has been turned upside down and ancient Romanian beliefs have not had the same credibility this year it seems like the normal behavior of the weather has come back, according to these beliefs. Winter was gentle but has had some frosty days, spring has also been good to us giving water to the ground for the crops and summer was as the two aforementioned friend seasons, giving us hot days when was needed. After August 15 this year, the weather started to cool down, preparing us for the fall. If in the past years more hot days came after mid august the weather cooled significantly this year here in Romania.

Although it is September 8th, the day of Saint Mary’s birth, another important Christian holiday for my people, I thought to end the of summers’ recipe list with an article about the last watermelon of the year. So here’s the watermelon cheese salad.
We need a watermelon, as much as you can find at the market and some cheese. To make it more interesting I put some dried leaves of lemon balm, a sister plant of mint, to make it even more refreshing.
Dice the watermelon and the cheese, add lemon balm dry leaves and ready it is, your summer dessert.

Inghetata cu nuscoara / Nutmeg flavor icecream

Vara s-a terminat pe acest an. Este greu sa te desparti de zilele calduroase, culorile vesele ale naturii si mai ales de plimbarile lungi pe racoare de ploile scurte si de visele noptilor de vara. In amintirea acestor zile m-am gandit sa sfidez racoarea diminetilor de septembrie cu o reteta de inghetata. Recunosc, un alt motiv este si acela ca nu am avut timp in vara sa va impartasesc reteta insa este buna de incercat si acum pana nu fuge caldura de tot de pe la noi.

Pt 2 portii aveti nevoie de:

  • 100 ml lapte
  • 50 gr ciocolata
  • Putina nucsoara
  • 3 albusuri de ou
  • 3 sau 4 linguri de zahar

Procedeul este cat se poate de simplu. Topiti ciocolata cu laptele si adauati nucsoara.

Apoi bateti albusurile de ou cu zaharul pana devine o spuma pufoasa.

Cand laptele s-a racit putin amestecati-l cu albusurile spuma si puneti amestecul in forme la congelator cel putin 12 ore. Eu am servit deliciul aceste ciocolatos cu felii de para si putina miere.

Summer has ended this year. It’s hard to break up from the hot days, the bright colors of nature and especially the long walks with fast rains and cool summer night’s dreams. In the memory of those days I thought to defy the cold September mornings with an ice cream recipe. I admit, another reason is also that I have not had time this summer to share the recipe with you but it is good to try now until it runs away for half a year the heat of the fall days.
For 2 servings you will need:

  • 100 ml of milk
  • 50 gr chocolate
  • bit of nutmeg
  • 3 egg whites
  • 3 or 4 tablespoons of sugar

The process is quite simple. Melt the chocolate with milk and the nutmeg. Then beat the egg whites with sugar until it becomes fluffy foam. When the milk has cooled down a bit mix it with egg whites and place the mixture in the freezer, in forms, for at least 12 hours. I served this chocolate delight with pear slices and some honey.
